Honorable MARIA FE R. ABUNDA
Honorable Mayor Maria Fe R. Abunda is the first City Mayor to be elected as such.
The previous City Mayor, Honorable Mayor Fidel V. Anacta, Jr., ran for Municipal Mayor for his third term in the May 2007 elections and took his oath of office as City Mayor noontime of June 30, 2007 when the plebiscite conducted on June 20, 2007 to have the Boronganons confirm the Charter of the City of Borongan, which Congress passed on February 5, 2007 and which has lapsed into law on March 16, 2007 without the signature of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, resulted to a win for the YES Vote.
It was during her first term as City Mayor that the Supreme Court decided with finality that the Cityhood of Borongan is Constitutional during their summer session in Baguio City on April 12, 2011.
She is currently on her second term as City Mayor and is running to complete her three terms this coming May 9, 2016 national and local elections.
